Shut Up and Dance with Me!

She took my arm,
"Oh, don't you dare look backJust keep your eyes on me."
Oh, come on girl!
Deep in her eyes,I don't know how it happened.

We took the floor and she said,
I said, "You're holding back, "
She said, "Shut up and dance with me!"
This woman is my destiny
She said, "Ooh-ooh-hoo,Shut up and dance with me."
I think I see the future.
I realize this is my last chance.

In a pretty similar fashion, this is how I met my husband. This song will forever make me think of that night.

It was the first time that I'd ever had a dirty martini (or 3). Sitting at a table of 7 (three couples and one single person), every couple at the table was trying to set me up with someone. I had noticed Mike immediately. I had seen him around town before but never knew who he was or had the courage to talk to him.

Thanks, dirty martinis.

I asked him to dance with me. He said yes... and that was the beginning of the rest of my life.

Yesterday was three years since that fateful day and it has only gotten better.

I don't know that I ever knew this was possible.

I know a lot of people think celebrating your dating anniversary after you get married is stupid. I know a lot of people are probably really sick of my cheesy posts about how much I love my husband.

If you had any idea the tragedy and trauma that I have endured and survived to make it to this place, maybe you would feel a little different.  I, honestly, don't care.

I am going to celebrate every damn day, especially, the good ones....especially, the milestones.

I encourage every single one of you to do the same thing. Because, why not? It's really a lot better than the alternative.

life is too short
